My last day of the first part of my training is tomorrow. Whereas the first week of this program seemed to last about a month (in a good way), the second week has gone by in a blink of an eye! It seems like only yesterday that I was coming home from Angkor Wat and already I’m packing my back to leave once again for a trip to the glorious beaches of Sihanoukville.
A major change will take place too as a third of our group plans to leave for Thailand and Vietnam. Even though I’ve only known them a few weeks, it will be very sad to say goodbye to these new friends. We will be having a little party on a boat on the Tonté Sap River in Phnom Penh tomorrow as a way to say farewell.
Those of us who will be teaching in Cambodia or China in the long-run stay here in Phnom Penh to do our student-teaching and tutoring before receiving our certificates in a couple of weeks. While I relax in the sun this weekend and get amazingly cheap massages, I’ll be responsible for beginning my lesson plans for next week! I’m sure that Monday will be challenging, but I’m also really excited to actually get into a classroom and teach.
But for now, thoughts of boat rides and beaches keep me occupied.
